Frequently Asked Questions

The collar uses an advanced multi-GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) receiver that supports four major satellite constellations: GPS (US), GLONASS (Russia), BDS (China), and Galileo (EU). By receiving signals from multiple satellite systems simultaneously, the collar achieves high-accuracy outdoor positioning in most environments around the world. When your pet is outdoors with a clear view of the sky, the collar continuously calculates its position and sends location updates to the iPetLife app via the cellular network. You can see your pet's real-time location on the map, along with their movement history.
A virtual fence is a custom boundary you draw on the map in the iPetLife app. Here's how it works: Create the fence — Open the app, go to "My Fence," and either search for an address, select a location on the map, or walk the boundary with your phone to trace the exact perimeter. Save to collar — Once you save the fence, its coordinates are automatically downloaded directly to the collar's memory. Feedback on crossing — When your pet approaches or crosses the fence boundary, the collar provides gentle feedback (sound, voice prompt, or vibration) to let your pet know they've reached the limit. At the same time, the app sends you an instant alert. Because fence data is stored on the collar itself, virtual fences continue to work even in areas without cellular coverage. You can create up to 5 virtual fences and activate or deactivate them individually as needed.
The MeeXH Collar Max uses three types of humane feedback only — no electric shocks or static corrections: Sound — A customizable alert tone that gets your pet's attention. Voice prompts — Pre-recorded or selected voice messages that your pet can learn to recognize. Vibration — A gentle vibration that notifies your pet without startling them. You can customize which feedback types are used and adjust their intensity in the iPetLife app. The system is designed to guide your pet gently and support positive-reinforcement training, not to punish them. We recommend introducing the collar and virtual fences gradually, always pairing feedback with treats and praise.
The collar uses two types of wireless connections: Bluetooth — For short-range communication with your smartphone. Used during initial pairing, setup, nearby data sync, and when your phone is close to the collar. 4G Cellular (via built-in eSIM) — For long-range communication with the cloud and the iPetLife app. This enables real-time tracking, instant alerts, and remote monitoring when you're not physically near your pet. The eSIM connects to cellular networks in most countries and regions worldwide — no physical SIM card needed. The collar automatically switches between these connections based on proximity and usage. An active iPetLife subscription plan is required to enable cellular connectivity.
Setting up the collar takes about 10–15 minutes. Here's the full process: Download the iPetLife app — Search "iPetLife" on the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android), or scan the QR code on the packaging. Create an account — Sign up with your email and verify it with the confirmation code. Subscribe to a plan — Choose a subscription plan to activate cellular connectivity and full features. Add a pet profile — Enter your pet's name, breed, birthday, gender, neck size, and weight. Upload a photo. Pair the collar — Keep the collar on the charging cable, enable Bluetooth on your phone, and follow the in-app prompts to pair. The app will guide you through any firmware updates. Set up virtual fences — Draw your fence on the map, customize the feedback, and save. The fence data downloads to the collar automatically. Turn on and fit the collar — The collar turns on automatically when charged. Wait for the LED to indicate a cellular connection, then fit it comfortably on your pet's neck (leave room for 2–3 fingers). Tip: Always test virtual fences with your pet on a leash first to verify boundary placement and ensure your pet understands the feedback.
The collar automatically detects whether your pet is indoors or outdoors and adjusts its positioning strategy accordingly: Outdoors — The collar uses multi-GNSS satellite positioning for high-accuracy location tracking. With a clear view of the sky, accuracy is at its best. Indoors — When satellite signals are weak (e.g., inside buildings, dense urban areas), the collar uses Wi-Fi scanning to supplement positioning data. This helps reduce GPS interference and minimizes false fence alerts. This automatic switching happens seamlessly — you don't need to manually toggle anything. The collar continuously optimizes its positioning method to provide the most accurate location possible in any environment.
When your pet approaches or crosses a virtual fence boundary, two things happen simultaneously: Collar feedback — The collar immediately activates the feedback you've configured (sound, voice prompt, and/or vibration) to alert your pet that they've reached the boundary. This helps reinforce training and encourages your pet to stay within the safe zone. App alert — The iPetLife app sends you an instant push notification on your phone, letting you know your pet has crossed the fence. You can then check their real-time location and take action if needed. If the collar is in an area without cellular coverage, the collar still provides feedback to your pet (since fence data is stored locally), but the app alert will be delayed until the collar reconnects to the network.
The MeeXH Collar Max includes built-in sensors that track your pet's daily activity levels. The collar categorizes your pet's activity into three states: Sports — Active movement such as running, playing, or walking. Relax — Light activity such as wandering or casual movement. Rest — Sleep or stationary periods. This data is synced to the iPetLife app, where you can view daily, weekly, and monthly activity trends. Health monitoring helps you understand your pet's exercise patterns, spot changes in behavior that might indicate health concerns, and make informed decisions about their care. All activity data is presented in an easy-to-read dashboard within the app.
Firmware updates keep your collar running smoothly with the latest features, performance improvements, and bug fixes. Here's how they work: Automatic check — When you open the iPetLife app with the collar connected, the app automatically checks for available updates. Update prompt — If a new firmware version is available, the app will prompt you to install it. Requirements — Ensure the collar battery is above 50% and keep it on the charger during the update. Process — Keep your phone near the collar and do not turn off the collar, unplug it, or close the app until the update completes. Firmware updates are delivered over-the-air (OTA) and are included free with your subscription. They can improve tracking accuracy, battery optimization, fence performance, and add new features over time.
The collar uses simple LED light patterns to communicate its status: LED Pattern Meaning No light Normal everyday use — the LED stays off to reduce disturbance to your pet and save power. Fast red blinking Bluetooth pairing mode — the collar is ready to be paired or bound to a phone. Slow red breathing Low battery — charge the collar as soon as possible. White running (marquee) High-power mode — active pet-finding or virtual fence enforcement. GNSS and connectivity are working intensively. White breathing Charging — the collar is charging normally. Solid white Fully charged — you can unplug and put the collar back on your pet. You can always check the collar's detailed status (battery level, connection state, GPS signal) in the iPetLife app.
Partially yes. Virtual fences that have already been saved to the collar continue to function even without cellular coverage — the collar will still provide feedback (sound, voice, vibration) when your pet crosses a boundary. However, features that depend on cloud connectivity will be unavailable without network coverage: ❌ Real-time live tracking ❌ Instant push notifications to your phone ❌ Location history sync ❌ Firmware updates Once the collar reconnects to a cellular network, all pending data (location history, alerts) will sync to the app automatically.
Yes. The MeeXH Collar Max features a built-in eSIM that connects to cellular networks in most countries and regions worldwide. This means you can take the collar with you when traveling with your pet, and it will automatically connect to a local cellular network without needing to swap SIM cards. Virtual fences can be set up anywhere in the world — simply draw a new fence on the map at your destination. This makes the collar ideal for road trips, camping, vacations, or moving to a new home. Note: Cellular coverage depends on local network availability. In remote areas without network coverage, the collar will continue to enforce virtual fences offline, but live tracking and instant alerts may be temporarily unavailable.
